Gear Knobs, Short shifters & Shift Towers
There is a large variety available from leather to metal, carbon fibre to weighted but what is right for you!
Gear Knobs
Lets start with gear knobs, in the standard format there is 2 options from factory All metal or half metal half colour coded leather.
Both very nice options and for most this will be timeless.
If you're after something a little smarter then you are in luck, there is a few nice options out there, a weighted shift knob is always a nice touch as adds a little bit of positive energy to each gear shift and feels quite nice in the hand. ( a little cold in uk winters )
Short Shift Kits
Then we move on to short shift kits, now these are designed to shorten the distance you have to move the gear knob both front to back & side to side. they range in price from £40 - £100ish so quite a cheap yet effective modification. they will take a little fiddling to set up however there is plenty of videos available online showing fitting and set up.
Shift Towers
If you are like me and think the stock position is a little low, the throw is too much or just want that race car look and feel then you are in luck.
There is a few company's out there producing shift towers, reducing the travel and making shifting gears that little more seamless.
They offer an internal and external option, one mounts inside the car ( will require centre console removal more suited to track use) and an internal one which is mounted like the stock one from the underside.
The benefit of these shift towers is you leave the standard linkage and cables on the gearbox and all the changes are made on the tower itself.
A slightly more pricey option but looks and performs the best.
